Recovering patches from an Orville sysex dump?

HI There,


Question for y'all -


I had an Orville for many years and wrote many, many custom patches. They were saved on a card, and I also did a full sysex dump of my orville patches / settings / etc. I still have this file.


I no longer have the Orville, but now have an H8000FW. Still have the Orville card - sadly, when I place the card in my H8000 it blue screens / crashes. Have tried multiple adapters, etc. Seems like it's just not happening. It's also very possible that the battery inside of the card died long ago and the data is gone anyway.


So, my question is this - Is there some way to recover my patches from that sysex dump? Sending it to the H8000 doesn't work, I assume because the format of the orville is different than that of the H8000.


Perhaps engineers at eventide have some magic utility that could do this? I would *deeply* appreciate any assitance as I slaved over those patches for 100s upon 100s of hours and really want to get them back.

Alas, I only have one solution for you, which you won't like. (See later).


The H8000FW does not support the PCMCIA cards that the Orville uses - this is why it reacted badly to being offered one. It is looking for a Compact Flash card in a suitable adaptor.


Because Win7-10 does not support the printer-cable based card readers that will handle PCMCIA, we have nothing that will read them.


So (see first line), all I can suggest is that you find someone with an Orville, and have him extract the sigfiles fromthe presets on your card. Then you should be able to download those to your H8000 (using Vsig 2.0). But, be aware that due to changes in the DSP modules, a few may be incompatible.


Sorry I can't be more helpful, but technology moves so fast that a 20 year old product is often impossible to support.
